Bali Immigration Services Reopen After National Holidays

by CiCi

Indonesia’s Immigration Offices have resumed operations following the national public holidays. The offices officially reopened on April 8, 2025, and now that the post-holiday rush has subsided, both tourists and expats can access immigration services with ease.

Immigration services, including the online portal, were temporarily suspended during the Nyepi and Eid holidays. However, the Acting Director General of Immigration, Saffar M. Godam, confirmed that all immigration offices are now fully operational and prepared to offer optimal public service.

He reported that 12,770 visa and residence permit applications were processed on the first day of reopening. During the holiday period (March 28 – April 7), 217,695 visa applications were submitted through the online system, and these applications are being processed in the order they were received.

Although immigration offices were closed, emergency services for urgent medical issues or family matters abroad were still available, provided applicants submitted the necessary documentation.

Tourists who have submitted visa or residence permit applications online will be notified by email once their application has been processed. For those with questions about processing times or if their application hasn’t been returned within the expected timeframe, they should refer to the evisa.imigrasi.go.id website for projected processing times or contact immigration services directly.

Indonesia’s eVisa system has simplified the visa application process, allowing tourists from over 90 countries, including Australia, China, the US, New Zealand, and the UK, to apply for or extend tourist visas entirely online. The eVisa on Arrival and Visa on Arrival are both available, with the former requiring online application before arrival and the latter available upon landing.

Tourists should be mindful of their visa expiry dates and apply for extensions with ample time to avoid overstaying, which can result in fines or deportation.
