A new survey conducted by easyJet and its package holiday division, easyJet holidays, reveals that the average Briton plans to spend £3,000 on their primary holiday this year, in addition to taking two other trips. The study highlights a growing trend of prioritizing holidays, with a significant number of consumers willing to invest more in their vacations in 2025.

According to the findings, 97% of those surveyed now view holidays as more essential than ever, with 35% planning to increase their holiday budget this year. In addition, one-third (33%) of respondents intend to take more holidays than in 2024, averaging three trips in total for the year. The typical holiday duration is expected to last around 12 days.

Exploration is a key focus for travellers in 2025, with 82% of the 2,000 individuals polled citing discovering new destinations as their top priority. To ensure they get the best deals, nearly half (46%) of respondents are planning holidays up to 18 months in advance.

Technology is playing a growing role in trip planning, with over 40% of holidaymakers set to use artificial intelligence tools to streamline their itinerary preparations, saving hours of research. In terms of accommodation, more than half (51%) of respondents prefer hotels, while 63% are open to booking budget-friendly destinations, such as Turkey or Tunisia, to enjoy higher-quality accommodations.

The all-inclusive holiday package continues to dominate, with 56% of respondents opting for this option when booking. Additionally, 81% say they would choose to spend a month in an all-inclusive resort during the winter if it were cheaper than staying at home.

New, off-the-beaten-path destinations are also gaining popularity. Montenegro, Cape Verde, and Slovenia are emerging as key alternatives, while 63% of travellers are considering swapping traditional European destinations for more distant locations like Egypt, Tunisia, or Turkey, seeking better value for money.

Family holidays are also evolving, with 30% of families planning multi-generational vacations in 2025. Among these, 80% will focus on trips that cater to the interests of all family members.

The classic beach holiday remains the most popular choice (61%), but city breaks are also in demand, with 47% of respondents planning at least one urban getaway. Furthermore, 79% of travellers are drawn to nature-focused holidays, such as witnessing the Midnight Sun in Norway or hiking in the Dolomites, to explore the planet’s natural wonders.

easyJet CEO Kenton Jarvis commented on the findings: “As we celebrate 30 years of easyJet, we continue to adapt to the changing needs of our customers. The trends revealed in this report reflect what we are seeing in real-time consumer behavior. In response, we’ve launched over 40 new routes from the UK, making it easier for customers to discover exciting new destinations with great-value options.”

The study underscores the growing importance of holidays, with many seeing them as an essential part of modern life, rather than just a luxury.
