The Rotary Botanical Gardens in Janesville is once again set to dazzle visitors with its annual Holiday Light Show, featuring over 1.6 million lights.
Preparations for the stunning display start long before the holiday season, with work beginning as early as August. Light Show Specialist Larry Holterman shared that the team spends months getting everything in place. “It’s a year-round effort,” he explained. “In summer, volunteers repair broken lights, and our talented craft ladies create new and exciting displays each year.”
After the event concludes in January, the lights are carefully packed away. Each piece is tested, and any non-functioning lights are fixed by volunteers before being stored for the following year.
Holterman expressed his joy at seeing families return year after year, with some making it a tradition to bring their growing children to experience the show. “We see families come back year after year, creating lasting memories as their children grow up,” he said. “It’s heartwarming to be part of that.”
The Holiday Light Show will run from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on select dates from Nov. 29 to Jan. 4 at 1455 Palmer Dr. in Janesville.
