Vietnamese travelers are gearing up for this year’s National Day holiday from September 2nd, which spans four days. According to recent data from Booking.com, Asia-Pacific destinations are the most popular choices for international travel, while domestic tourists are also booking last-minute tours to favorite local spots.
Top Domestic Destinations
For the fifth consecutive year, Da Lat remains the top domestic destination. Known for its stunning landscapes, cool climate, romantic ambiance, and delicious food, the city attracts thousands of tourists every National Day holiday. Other popular destinations include Da Nang, Vung Tau, Nha Trang, Phan Thiet, Ho Chi Minh City, Hoi An, Hanoi, Sa Pa, and Hue. Phan Thiet, in particular, is gaining traction due to the newly opened Dau Giay – Phan Thiet expressway, making travel easier and faster.
Top International Destinations
Vietnamese tourists are favoring nearby international destinations given the short holiday period. Bangkok tops the list, followed by Tokyo, Seoul, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taipei, Sydney, Bali, and Chiang Mai. These cities offer vibrant experiences, including rich culture, diverse cuisine, and ample shopping opportunities.
Tourist Trends and Pricing
Many Vietnamese tourists are seeking vacations that combine both cultural exploration and relaxation, with significant interest in domestic locations like Da Nang, Nha Trang, and Da Lat. Additionally, resort destinations such as Con Dao, Ly Son, Phu Quoc, and Sa Pa are becoming increasingly popular.
Travel experts have noted that tour costs during this holiday may be slightly lower than other major holidays, such as Lunar New Year and April 30th, mainly due to a slight decrease in airfare prices. However, these deals are often dependent on the timing of bookings and the destination’s popularity.
For international tours, high-end trips to Japan, South Korea, and China have seen high demand, with many tours fully booked weeks in advance. Prices for these tours during the holiday are typically around 20% higher than usual. In contrast, domestic tourists often book closer to the holiday, and prices for domestic tours have remained stable, even lower than during the April 30th – May 1st holiday.
With Vietnamese tourists eager to make the most of their long weekend, both domestic and international travel are thriving as holidaymakers seek out relaxation and new experiences before the start of the school year.
