Parents are teaming up with family and friends to form “Holiday Squads” before embarking on their summer vacations, according to recent research. Eurocamp, a family holiday firm, is simplifying the process with new accommodation options and compatibility tools to ensure a harmonious holiday experience.
Eurocamp has introduced the Ultimate Plus Double accommodation, designed to cater to Holiday Squads by housing up to 12 people. This innovative option combines two holiday homes, each featuring a double bedroom, twin bedroom, and spacious decking. The larger unit includes an ensuite double bedroom, two twin bedrooms, and a sofa bed, while both units offer kitchens and comfortable living spaces.
A recent Eurocamp survey of 4,000 holidaymakers revealed that 77% of parents enjoy relaxing with a glass of wine as the highlight of their Holiday Squad trips. Additionally, 64% of respondents have vacationed with a Holiday Squad in the past two years, and 72% plan to form one for future trips. These groups often consist of multiple sets of parents, allowing them to share childcare responsibilities and return more refreshed.
Ross Matthews, a spokesperson for Eurocamp, highlighted the benefits of Holiday Squads: “Summer holidays provide our most magical family memories as we spend time together away from everyday stresses. Forming Holiday Squads allows parents to share duties and focus on having fun.”
To assist in forming compatible Holiday Squads, Eurocamp has developed an online compatibility test. This quiz analyzes personalities, holiday habits, and preferences to ensure a memorable and enjoyable holiday for all members.
The Ultimate Plus Double accommodation is being trialed at La Croix du Vieux Pont near Paris, with plans to expand to other Eurocamp locations. Eurocamp’s more than 400 parcs also offer nearby accommodations for Holiday Squads.
Family and relationship psychologist Simone Bose emphasizes the benefits of Holiday Squad getaways: “These trips enhance mental health and emotional well-being, allowing parents to connect more deeply while children form lifelong friendships. Holiday Squads foster a strong sense of community and provide a supportive network for shared responsibilities.”
