Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion Holiday Reopening: What to Expect

by CiCi

Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion Holiday is set to reopen on July 29 after a six-month closure, just in time to kick off the Halloween and holiday season. The iconic attraction, known for its blend of spooky and festive elements inspired by Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, has undergone renovations to enhance the guest experience.

Renovations and New Features

The Haunted Mansion was closed on January 22 to facilitate renovations in New Orleans Square. These improvements include:

Expanded Outdoor Queue: The queue area will be enhanced to provide a more immersive experience, featuring gardens with fountains and character statues that celebrate the beloved ride.

Handicap Accessibility: New features will improve accessibility for all guests, ensuring a more inclusive experience.

Madame Leota’s Gift Shop: A new gift shop inspired by Madame Leota’s carriage house will be added, although it will not open on July 29.

Festive Decor and New Additions

As part of its seasonal transformation, the Haunted Mansion will be adorned with decor that reflects the themes of The Nightmare Before Christmas. Guests can expect to see characters like Jack Skellington and Sally throughout the attraction, contributing to the “frightfully festive” atmosphere.

One of the highlights for this year will be the all-new gingerbread house design at the center of the ballroom scene, marking a fresh take on this beloved holiday feature.

Accessing the Haunted Mansion

To manage the influx of guests, access to the Haunted Mansion will be via a virtual queue through the Disneyland app. Here’s how it works:

Requesting Access: Guests can request to enter the attraction on the same day their ticket is valid. There will be two opportunities to join the virtual queue each day:

7 a.m. for guests with a park reservation and either a one-park or Park Hopper ticket.

Noon for guests already inside Disney California Adventure Park or Disneyland Park with a Park Hopper ticket.

No Standby Queue: There will be no standby queue available, so guests must rely on the virtual queue system.

Group Requests: Only one person from a group’s Disney account needs to link the park tickets and make the request for the virtual queue.

The reopening of Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion Holiday promises to deliver a magical blend of Halloween thrills and holiday cheer.
