Legendary Performers Headline Four-Day Cambridge Folk Festival

by CiCi

The Cambridge Folk Festival, one of the world’s longest-running folk festivals, kicks off today, featuring an impressive lineup that includes the renowned Ralph McTell, famous for his iconic song “Streets of London.”

This year’s festival, held on the picturesque grounds of Cherry Hinton Hall, boasts a stellar lineup. Among the headliners is former Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant, performing with his band Saving Grace alongside vocalist Suzi Dian.

Local talent will also shine with performances by Norwich’s Brown Horse and Cambridge-based singer-songwriter Annie Dressner. Dressner shared her excitement with the BBC, saying, “Cambridge Folk Festival is definitely one of my favorite festivals to play – and no, it’s not just because I live in Cambridge. It is intimate and filled with wonderful music and people. I am so excited.”

The festival runs from Thursday to Sunday, featuring a variety of acts such as Talisk, blues-rock band Larkin Poe, and Scottish group Capercaillie.

Adding an international flavor, the festival will highlight artists from Norway, thanks to a collaboration with Music Norway and support from the Norwegian embassy. Performers include Ævestaden, Alexander Aga Røynstrand, Erlend Viken Trio, and Julie Alapnes.

With such a diverse and talented lineup, this year’s Cambridge Folk Festival promises to be a memorable event for music lovers.
