Budweiser and Sir Geoff Hurst Petition for Bank Holiday if England Wins Euro 2024

Budweiser and Sir Geoff Hurst have initiated a campaign appealing to King Charles III to declare a bank holiday if England’s Men’s football team triumphs in the Euro 2024 final on Sunday, inspired by the Lionesses’ historic victory in 2022.

Sir Geoff Hurst, the legendary figure from England’s 1966 World Cup-winning team, has addressed a letter to His Majesty, advocating for an extra day of national celebration in the event of a victory.

Simultaneously, Budweiser is rallying public support for its online petition, #BudBankHoliday, which is accessible here. Brian Perkins, President of Budweiser Brewing Group UK&I at AB InBev, emphasized the significance of such a win.

“Winning the trophy on Sunday night would be a monumental moment, not only for the players but also for the fans,” Perkins stated. “As the Official Beer of England, we acknowledge the unique and unwavering spirit of England supporters. Considering the fans’ consistent dedication, a bank holiday is well deserved.”

He added, “We hope the team achieves this historic win on Sunday, joining the Lionesses as European Champions, allowing the nation to witness sporting greatness in a moment of a lifetime.”

In conjunction with the petition, Budweiser has launched 12 million redesigned ‘Home’ cans, blessed by Hurst ahead of the tournament. These cans feature the slogan “Let’s Bring it Home,” the Three Lions crest, and an inscription of Hurst’s blessing.

Hurst expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “From the outset, I believed in this talented team’s potential. I am privileged to pass on the winning spirit of the 1966 team by blessing the ‘Home’ cans.”

“It’s a real honor to be part of football history once more, leading the campaign for a bank holiday to ensure everyone can fully celebrate if and when victory is ours. Thanks to the team’s dedication and the unwavering support from England’s fans, we are on the brink of victory. A national celebration is long overdue, and a bank holiday would make a win even more special for millions of supporters.”

Orlando Warner, Executive Creative Director at Revolt, remarked, “We enlisted Sir Geoff Hurst to bless Budweiser, the official beer of England. As a result, it looks like football might actually come home.”

He continued, “Should we be victorious, Sir Geoff Hurst has requested a bank holiday for the whole nation. Winning a major tournament is rare, and it deserves to be celebrated in style across the country… with a blessed Budweiser.”
