Independence Day Festivities Light Up Skies Across Lewistown

Lewistown, PA – As Independence Day approaches, the skies of Lewistown are set to illuminate with festivities and celebrations. From community gatherings to spectacular fireworks displays, locals and visitors alike have a host of events to enjoy over the long weekend.

The East Waterford Independence Day Celebration kicks off the festivities early on Thursday at the Tuscarora Fairgrounds. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., attendees can enjoy a car and motorcycle show, live music, homemade ice cream, and friendly competitions like horseshoes and cornhole. The highlight of the day culminates in a spirited parade starting at 3 p.m.

For those seeking a refreshing dip, the Burnham Pool offers free admission to all active and past service members from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on the Fourth of July. A portion of the gate proceeds will be donated to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Organization in Belleville, honoring those who have served.

The sky over East Waterford will come alive on Saturday with a spectacular fireworks and Tannerite show at 4345 Horse Valley Road. Starting at 9 a.m. and lasting until 11 p.m., the event promises excitement with yard sales and helicopter rides, culminating in a dazzling fireworks display at 9:30 p.m.

Back in Lewistown, the Independence Day Fireworks Display will light up the night sky at 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, marking a fitting end to the celebrations.

Throughout the weekend, live entertainment adds to the festive atmosphere. Seven Mountains Wine Cellars in Spring Mills hosts “Campfire Friday Night” featuring music by Ben, while Iron Ridge Brewing in Lewistown presents “Big Red Acoustic” on Friday evening.

On Saturday, the Locust Grove Mennonite Church in Belleville hosts the Big Valley Bluegrass Gospel Gathering and Ice Cream Social from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., featuring J Tyme from Lancaster County. Later that evening, Burnt Timbers Winery in Granville welcomes guests to enjoy music by Bella Donna from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Rob Mordan will perform an acoustic set at Hungry Run Wine Bar and Bistro in Lewistown at 7 p.m. on Saturday, offering another delightful musical experience for attendees.

Additionally, the community spirit shines bright with events like the Paintersville Christian and Missionary Alliance Church Car Show on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., featuring a variety of vehicles and children’s activities. Nearby, the Port Royal Railroad Bridge and Parklet Dedication takes place at 1 p.m. on Saturday, celebrating local history and providing family-friendly entertainment.
