As announced by the United Arab Emirates Cabinet, here are the remaining public holidays for 2024. If you’re planning a getaway or making travel plans for the latter half of the year, this list will be helpful.
Hijri New Year/Islamic New Year
The Hijri New Year, marking the beginning of a new lunar Hijri year, falls on Sunday, July 7, 2024 (Muharram 1). According to resolution No. 27 of 2024, except for Eid holidays, official holidays can be moved to the beginning or end of the week by a Cabinet decision. Awaiting confirmation from UAE authorities on whether this will result in a long weekend.
Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) Birthday
Al-Mawlid Al-Nabawi, the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), is expected to fall on Sunday, September 15, 2024 (Rabi’ Al-Awwal 12). Confirmation from UAE authorities on the holiday announcement is pending.
Commemoration Day and UAE National Day
Commemoration Day, previously known as Martyrs’ Day, is observed on December 1. In 2024, this falls on a Sunday. This is followed by UAE National Day on December 2 and 3, which are Monday and Tuesday. This creates a four-day break for those who have a two-day weekend.
