Bank Holiday Today: Online Transactions and EMI Payments Amidst Eid al-Adha

by CiCi

As per the Reserve Bank of India’s holiday calendar for 2024, most commercial bank branches, both public and private, will remain closed today, June 17, in observance of Bakra Eid, also known as Eid al-Adha. Despite the physical branches being shut, customers can still carry out various banking activities through online platforms, including mobile and internet banking.

Online Transactions and Services

While bank branches are closed, digital services such as online transfers, bill payments, and other transactions will function normally through net banking and mobile banking apps. Customers are encouraged to use these services for any banking needs during the holiday.

EMI Deductions on Holidays

For those with auto debit facilities, ICICI Bank’s policy states, “If the Payment Due Date falls on a non-business day, the account will be debited on the next business day.” The bank further clarifies that if the account lacks sufficient funds on the due date, additional charges, along with the EMI, will be included in the next month’s statement. ICICI Bank is not responsible for delays in auto debit transactions due to incomplete or incorrect information.

Bank Closures Across Cities

Branches will be closed in major cities including Agartala, Ahmedabad, Belapur, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehradun, Guwahati, Hyderabad (Andhra Pradesh and Telangana), Imphal, Jaipur, Jammu, Kanpur, Kochi, Kohima, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Panaji, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi, Shillong, Shimla, Srinagar, and Thiruvananthapuram.

Extended Weekend in Jammu and Srinagar
