School Holiday Events to Spark Inspiration and Excitement on Redlands Coast

by CiCi

As the school holidays approach, Redlands Coast is gearing up to offer an array of captivating activities designed to delight and engage children of all ages. From the realms of magic and science to the allure of circus performances, there’s something for everyone to enjoy from June 22 to July 7, 2024.

Redland City Mayor Jos Mitchell expressed her enthusiasm for the diverse range of activities planned across Council Libraries, Redland Performing Arts Centre (RPAC), Redlands IndigiScapes Centre, and Redland Art Gallery.

“Our Council teams have curated an exceptional program of events to keep children entertained and engaged during the upcoming school break,” Mayor Mitchell remarked. “Many of these events are free, but due to high demand, early bookings are encouraged to secure your spot.”

The highlight of the holiday lineup is the inaugural Kids Takeover program at RPAC, featuring a medley of free and ticketed events spanning four days. Attendees can expect mesmerizing performances by the Showmen, showcasing live magic, stunts, and illusions. Additionally, the Brat Kids Carnival promises a spectacle of hula hoops, clowning, and acrobatics. Bush adventurer and mythical creature researcher Pat Malone will captivate audiences, while “You Are a Doughnut” offers an educational yet entertaining exploration of the human digestive system. RPAC will also host free drop-in art-making sessions, providing families with a creative outlet to express themselves.

For those seeking outdoor adventures, Redlands IndigiScapes Centre will host a pop-up playground featuring interactive games aimed at enhancing balance, hand-eye coordination, and gross motor skills. The Juggle Jam session offers children the chance to learn and practice juggling skills amidst a vibrant outdoor setting, fostering a deeper connection with nature.

Redland City Libraries will buzz with activity, offering Craft Craze sessions, art workshops, and engaging programs inspired by popular movies. From designing imaginary friends to silent disco grooves, there’s no shortage of creative exploration for children of all ages.

At Redland Art Gallery, Cleveland, children can unleash their artistic talents through a series of hands-on workshops and activities. From crafting pop-up books inspired by local flora and fauna to creating unique drawing tools using natural materials, there’s plenty of opportunities for self-expression and discovery.
