The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (Mohre) has officially announced the Eid Al Adha holiday dates for the private sector in the UAE. Employees will enjoy a break from Saturday, June 15, to Tuesday, June 18.
The holiday begins with Arafah Day on Saturday, June 15, which is the 9th of Dhul Hijjah according to the Hijri calendar. Arafah Day is considered the holiest day in Islam. Following this, three days off are granted for Eid Al Adha, the Festival of Sacrifice, from Dhul Hijjah 10 to 12, corresponding to June 16 to 18 in the Gregorian calendar.
Public sector employees will observe the holiday on the same dates, ensuring a unified celebration period across both sectors.
The crescent of Dhul Hijjah 1445 was sighted in Abu Dhabi on Friday, June 7. Authorities in Saudi Arabia confirmed the moon sighting on Thursday, indicating that the Islamic month of Dhul Hijjah commenced on June 7. Consequently, Eid Al Adha in Saudi Arabia will begin on June 16.
Other countries, including Oman, India, and Pakistan, will celebrate the first day of the festival on June 17, based on their moon sightings.
This unified holiday period allows residents and expatriates in the UAE to plan their celebrations and activities accordingly, joining millions of Muslims worldwide in observing this significant occasion.
