Macau experienced a bustling influx of visitors during this year’s Dragon Boat Festival holiday, with a total of 342,843 individuals entering the city between June 8 and June 10. According to data released by Macau’s Public Security Police, the daily average of visitor arrivals stood at just above 114,280 during the festive period.
Sunday, June 9, emerged as the peak day with 138,413 visitors, setting the tone for the holiday period. Monday, designated as a public holiday in Macau, Hong Kong, and mainland China for the annual Dragon Boat Festival, also contributed significantly to the visitor numbers.
While no specific year-on-year comparisons were provided by local authorities, it’s evident that Macau remained a favored destination for travelers during the holiday break.
A notable portion of the visitor influx arrived via the Border Gate land crossing with Zhuhai, accounting for approximately 41.2% of the three-day total. With 141,290 arrivals, the Border Gate was the busiest entry checkpoint during the holiday period.
Additionally, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge facilitated the arrival of 80,086 visitors, constituting 23.4% of all arrivals during the holiday period. This highlights the significance of the bridge in connecting Macau with neighboring regions and enhancing accessibility for travelers.
The robust visitor numbers during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday underscore Macau’s appeal as a premier tourist destination, offering a vibrant mix of entertainment, cultural experiences, and culinary delights.
